Time to LEVEL UP!

Welcome to the wondrous journey of leveling up in the World of Viskarr! Every adventure is a chance to grow, and in this world, power comes as swiftly as your next great story.

The Basics

After each thrilling session, your character levels up—no grinding required. This represents regular but smaller gains in experience; your character is constantly learning and growing and levels directly reflect that. At every new level, you’ll gain Character Points (CP). Think of these as the seeds of greatness, ready to be invested in your strengths, quirks, or brand-new skills. Whether you're mastering swordplay, learning a rare spell, or perfecting the art of charming dragons, your CP helps your character flourish in your chosen style.

  • Leveling up at every session isn’t just a mechanic; it’s a reward for your journey and choices. It lets you experiment with powers and refine skills, making each adventure a stepping stone to the unique legend your character is becoming. Dive into each game knowing you’ll emerge with something new to shape your story and set you apart. Some DMs may even offer other rewards if you spend your CP on abilities that reflect the session’s narrative.

Combat went long? Well, your character still learned something. No treasure today? At least you can get a cool ability. The game is designed to advance organically based on gametime served.

So, grab your Character Points, dream big, and embrace the ever-shifting adventure that lies ahead!

Step 1 (Every Level): Gain 2 CP

Gain TWO Character Points. These points can be spent on the following options, but the same choice cannot be selected twice.

  • 1 CP - Gain a feat from a Path you have unlocked. You cannot gain a feat from a tier which you have not unlocked with a core level.

  • 1 CP - Gain a feat with the GENERAL tag.

  • 1 CP - Gain +2 HP.

  • 2 CP - Gain a feat from a Path you have not unlocked, either one tier lower than your highest tier, or Tier 1.

  • More options for CP will become available as the game progresses.

Step 2 (Core Levels): Bumps

If your level up is a Core Level (5th, 10th, 15th and every 5 levels thereafter), you also do the following:

  1. Increase your CM by 1.

  2. Increase your Path’s Key Attribute by 1. For example, if you are a Divine Servant you would increase your Insight by 1.

  3. Gain increased proficiency up to Expert in a skill from your path. For example, a Divine Servant could select to increase Diplomacy, Medicine, or Religion by one step. The DM may allow you to increase your skills beyond Expert, but it is generally advised to save Master and Grandmaster for at least levels 30 and 40 respectively, or to be learned through training in game.

  4. Gain the HP listed for your Path.
